Steffen Henssler is best known for his TV shows and his large restaurant near the St. Pauli Fish Market. A hidden gem in the city center along the canal is “Henssler at home,” which I consider the best Japanese restaurant in the GALLERIA, located at Grosse Bleichen 21 in the Alte Post building with its clock tower, reminiscent of Tuscany. The Galleria offers unique shopping at surprisingly reasonable prices, and Henssler is the culinary centerpiece, whether inside or on the idyllic terrace overlooking the canal. The selection is huge, and the service is fast and friendly. I’ve rarely had a better Caesar salad with wonderfully crispy fried chicken breast, not to mention the sushi. It’s the perfect oasis in the heart of the shopping district, open from noon until 7 p.m.
