Martin Mosebach

Martin Mosebach, born in Frankfurt am Main in 1951, was initially a lawyer, then turned to writing. Since 1983, he has published novels, as well as short stories, poems, libretti, and essays on art and literature, on travel, and on religious, historical, and political themes. For this he has received numerous awards and prizes, such as the Heinrich von Kleist Prize, the Great Literature Prize of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts, the Georg Büchner Prize and the Goethe Plaque of the City of Frankfurt. He is a member of the Academy for Language and Poetry, the German Academy of Arts in Berlin-Brandenburg and the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts and lives in Frankfurt am Main.
